So before you watch this post your answer to the following question here on my blog:
What is science?
Why do we explore the world (either through science, poetry, music, food etc..)?
And watch this:
I just want you to ponder the video. Hopefully we come up some answers throughout the semester!
Hello, I'm Danielle Stender/Hayden (I just got married, and I haven't changed it to Hayden in the UNM system yet). I'm in Sec. 001. My URL is majorsprite. See you on Monday!
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm Laura Walkingstick. I'm also in Sec. 001. My URL is lawalkingstick(LAW)....lol if I did this right. :)
ReplyDeleteI believe science is the study of how things are made, move, work, and behave and react through experiments and study.
We study because of our curiosity to know and learn. Eventually making one to want to test, experiment and explore what we don't know but what to learn about.
Hello, I'm KC Grace. I am in Sec. 001 as well.
ReplyDeleteI think science is the study of the world around us. We study to help us better understand our surroundings and the phenomena we witness. We explore the world around us in an attempt to solidify our place in that world, and to help us reconcile ourselves with change.
@ LAW That's a great explanation. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@ KC That concept of being changed by an ever changing universe is something that I hope we get to explore a little bit.
Science offers theories/hypothesis regarding observation. A collection of data is obtained with hopes of either proving or disproving the theory posited. The data is analyzed, evaluated, (hopefully) critiqued, and the hypothesis is examined in response. Science suggests method. I thought the video was a bit presumptuous. ~SAS
ReplyDeletescience is an exploration of the causes and effects of the things that go on around us in the universe. that is an incredibly general statement but i believe that it encompasses what people seek to explore through science, art, poetry etc.... although any given scientist will most likely have a substantially more specific interest i will argue that they all will fall under the general premise that i've put forth here.
ReplyDeleteScience is curiosity. We want to know how humans live on earth and how we adapt to the world all these years. Wanting to know how the world works and why. We explore the world to understand it more and learn how to adapt with the changes that the world goes through. We explore the world because there is so many things to still learn about the earth.
ReplyDeleteScience is the product of us seeking for understanding of the world we live in. We explore the world because it is human nature to be curious, and always ask the question "why?".
ReplyDeleteScience is an observation and interaction with creation.
ReplyDeleteScience is everywhere. There is not a single place you can go without being apart of God's creation. We explore the world through a hands on learning experience. Learning always seems to mean more when we can touch, feel, hear, smell, and see it personally.
ReplyDeleteI think science is about studying and becoming familiar with our environment. We explore the things that make up our environment for many reasons. One reason could be that by learning more about it we can better utilize all of the things it has to offer. As a human race, we are very curious beings and are always wanting to know more and get more out of what we learn. Studying science has helped us improve as a civilization, make new discoveries in technology, and make even bigger discoveries in medicine and health.
ReplyDeleteScience is the study of all things. How we got here, how we work, how the world works as a whole and individually. We explore the world to get answers.
ReplyDeletescience is the study of life and everything that is involved in our everyday life. The study of science can consist of just about everything and can be applied to almost everything. We explore the world through so many aspects due to our nature of interest as well as curiosity. The way we explore is individual to each person.

ReplyDeleteScience is the universal, and vast way in which we explore and research. Our human nature brings up many questions for us, and as we stare at the stars we can not help but wonder. Questions upon questions arise, and our only way to answer these questions is to explore. And once we answer these questions, more questions will arise, and the endless art of science is there to help guide us through it.
ReplyDelete1. Science is the search for knowledge and understanding.
ReplyDelete2. We explore the world in order to understand ourselves and our world.
Science is the exploration of the Earth through theory, observation, and testing. Through the use of all applications, Science is eye-opening and world affirming. I believe that that Science gives people a complete and well-rounded perspective of the world around us, and this is exactly why people research the Earth. We are looking for a more in-depth and wide-ranged view of the world in which we live. The point of researching anything is to attain more knowledge because with knowledge comes power. This world is ever changing and if we do not have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge then as a civilization we will be unsuccessful. Asking, experimenting, wondering, testing, observing, and learning is what makes the world an amazing place.
ReplyDeleteScience is the study of nature and how we first believe it and how it actually is.
ReplyDeleteWe explore and experiment in order to satisfy our curosity as to why things are the way they are.
Science is a way to acquire knowledge through study and practice.
ReplyDeleteScience is the study of everyday life, it is all around use. We study it to be able to live in our environment peacefully and so we do not harm our surroundings. If we know how to take care of our environment, it will last and be able to provide for us. The more we study and the more knowledge we gain about this misteries world we live in, the longer we can make our resources last. However, science is so much more than just survivel. It is also a way to answer questions about way things are they way they are and understand things out of our environment.
ReplyDeleteScience is the study of all things that have, are, and might happen in or too our environment.
ReplyDeleteWe explore the world because we either do not understand what is occuring in nature or we do not agree with what another person has stated.
